The Story Behind The Painting
Why are there so many flowers in this painting? Let me explain!
I grew up with simple but beautiful and lush gardens my parents created from their hard work on weekends. Each flower stood tall in their magnificence, remaining strong and healthy for days within beautiful bushes and leafy plants. They are all a part of my personal history that will be with me forever.
Another part of my history is visiting my grandparent's home as a child in the midst of the church where my grandfather preached. My grandmother kept a beautiful garden mixed with tall wild flowers behind the church. I loved diving into them, especially my favorite red poppies.
I loved their deep rich color and delicate petals so thin that the sun shined through them. I didn't know what meditation was then, but I spent much time thanking God for the beauty of flowers and asking Him to make me smart.
I was always told that I was too slow as a child, and that I shouldn't expect to accomplish anything when I became an adult. However, because of my childhood meditation that extended into my adult life, I always believed that my life did have value.
The times I spent with God within beautiful flowers and freshly mowed grass were my refuge that saved my soul! This connection to God helped me to find my purpose.
Today, I live in a desert area. Sadly I didn't inherit my parent's talent for growing beautiful gardens, but my husband grows roses. I love them! It was when I began to paint one of them that I decided to paint a woman surrounded by flowers and grass in a state of meditation.
I'm not the woman in "Meditation In Nature" painting, but symbolically she represents a lifetime of my seeking God within nature to guide me through life's difficulties and to lead me to my purpose. This truth can be the same for anyone who hasn't yet realized their purpose.
Everyone was created for something great, so where will you spend quiet time in meditation with God? Find your place in the world to be at peace and meditate.
