Color can make or break a painting. Paintings are purchased sometimes more because of the color scheme than for the picture itself. When it comes to some abstract paintings, for example, that offer color and shapes or patterns only, color weighs heavily on its success. This is because there is a technique for chosing colors that compliment each other. So the choice of colors are just as important as the picture the artist paints.
Some of my collections use mostly pastel colors, while others use a little darker and earthier pallette. Color can add power to a painting or softness to bring a more serene atmosphere to a room.
